Virtual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer Terms and Conditions


  1. The Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer is open to everyone who can walk the five kilometres in their own time. It is not a race.
  2. This walk is in support of those affected by cancer and your entry fee, and merchandise bought, is a donation to the fight against cancer.
  3. All entrants must enter and register for the event. Virtual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer will take place between 8am and 10am on Saturday, 30 October 2021.
  4. Online entries close at midnight on Friday, 29 October 2021. No physical registration will take place.
  5. Select the Group entry option, enter up to 20 people, and pay only one courier fee of R70 to a single address.
  6. Select the Bulk entry option, when entering 21 or more people, and pay the flat courier rate of R140 to a single address.
  7. For both group and bulk entries, visit algoafm.co.za and follow the guidelines. Please note bulk entries close on 18 October 2021.
  8. Entrants living in Gqeberha and Kariega areas have the option to use the new convenient self-collect service to collect their t-shirts and merchandise from the Williams Hunt Isuzu Dealer in Moffett Retail Park, off William Moffett Expressway in Gqeberha.
  9. Entrants living in Gqeberha and Kariega who enter more than 21 people will have their order delivered to their one selected address free of charge.
  10. T-shirts will be awarded to the first 5 000 paid entrants. All free T-shirts and any merchandise purchased will be couriered to you from 15 September. Please allow five working days for delivery.
  11. Each entrant will receive a Race Number to pin on their t-shirt
  12. Merchandise ordered after Monday, 25 October, might not be received before the event
  13. Entrants cannot be guaranteed that they will receive their preferred T-shirt size.
  14. All entrants enter the event at their own risk and are required to follow Government regulations under the respective lockdown rules.
  15. Should the Government regulation level change due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Self-Collect service option will be reviewed and communicated to all entrants in Gqeberha and Kariega areas. In this instance, only the Courier service option will apply.
  16. Entrants must accept and adhere to safety instructions given by the traffic officials in their suburbs, and event organisers or their representatives.
  17. Please do not litter – rather take a bag with you and use the walk to clean up the streets where you are walking.
  18. Should the event be cancelled due to circumstances beyond the organisers or sponsors control, NO REFUND of the entry fee will be issued.
  19. Spot prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the sponsors. Lucky draws will take place throughout the morning and announced online. Your Virtual race number is your entry into the lucky draw. Entrants will be contacted after the walk to arrange collection.

        All information provided by entrants is deemed to be true and correct. Entrants confirm that they are fit and healthy enough to complete the five kilometres in their own time and over a course of their choosing. They confirm that they understand that there may be risks related to walking on public roads and pavements. The organisers, sponsors and other stakeholders will not be held liable for any injuries or other claims.

        Entrants will abide by the rules and conditions of the event and will obey instructions from traffic officials, the South African Police Services or Metro police. Entrants will also observe the relevant Covid-19 protocols.

        All entrants grant permission in terms of section 51 of the electronics communication transactions act 25 of 2002 for the free use of images of them participating in the event by means of photographs, video tapes, broadcasts and telecasts. All personal information will remain confidential in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (or POPI Act).

        If the participant is a minor, (younger than 18), he or she may not participate unless his or her parent(s) or legal guardian(s) have agreed to be bound by these terms.

        Any dispute by the parties involved in the event should be resolved through negotiation wherever possible. Notice of dispute should be given in writing. The objective is to settle the dispute within 10 (ten) business days from date of receipt of the notification.

        If the dispute is not resolved through negotiation, it can be referred by either or both parties to the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (“AFSA”) for administered mediation, upon the terms set by the AFSA Secretariat.

        Neither party may withdraw from this clause relating to dispute resolution. This does not, however, restrict the right of the parties to this agreement to approach competent court for relief in the case where urgent relief is required.


        Any dispute is to be settled in accordance with the legal structure of the Republic of South Africa.


        1. Algoa FM, based at 5 Upper Valley Road, Baakens Valley, Gqeberha, 6001, will require certain personal information in order to process your entry into the Virtual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer and your merchandise requirements. The information will only be used for the purpose of the Big Walk.
        2. It will only be shared with third party for purposes directly related to the Virtual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer, such as courier delivery and the delivery of prizes.
        3. By providing this information you certify that it has been provided to Algoa FM by you voluntarily.
        4. Failure to share the information will mean that it will not be possible to process your entry into the Virtual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer.
        5. Participants may access their personal particulars which are in the possession of the organisers in order to update it if necessary.
        6. Any complaints about the handling of your information should be lodged with the office of the Information Regulator, at IR@justice.gov.za.
