A Third of Motorists don`t Enjoy Driving (UK)

A third of drivers simply don't enjoy driving anymore, according to a recent poll by the Institute of Advanced Motorists.

The UK-based road safety charity collected data from 2229 respondents for the study.

The main reason given for not enjoying driving was the cost of fuel (51 percent), closely followed by congestion (41 percent), no longer excited by driving (28 percent) and less leisure time (25.9 percent).

Other findings included that overall, 39 percent of respondents still considered driving and riding for fun as a "hobby". Some 53 percent of respondents thought that, compared with other road users, they were good drivers, with just over 45 percent responding that they were very good.

Half of respondents didn't always feel relaxed when their partner was in the passenger seat. Some 78 percent said that they would usually drive when out with their partner.

Over 60 percent of respondents stated that it was the behaviour of other drivers on the road that made them feel the most nervous. This was followed by bad weather conditions and driving near to lorries.
