Port Elizabeth police are urgently trying to trace the family of a woman who was found floating in the sea on Sunday morning.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said fishermen at Sidon Road who spotted the woman’s body and alerted the NSRI, contacted the police.

“The coloured female believed to be 30-45 years old was only wearing a green top and a black long sleeve vest,” she said.

Naidu said an inquest docket was opened while a post mortem would also be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

Police are appealing to anyone who may be able to assist in identifying the woman to contact Mount Road police or their nearest police station.
