Police in Butterworth has launched a manhunt for those responsible for the rape and murder of a 102-year-old woman.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa says the elderly woman was sleeping in a separate room in her house at Bawa Location on Wednesday when someone gained entry via a window.
She says that on Thursday, the woman's body was found with some injuries on her upper body.
A case of murder, rape and burglary is under investigation.
