Two more arrests for EC 'witchcraft murder'

Home of elderly victim following brutal murder.


Police have arrested two more suspects in connection with the murder of an elderly woman from Sterkspruit who was accused of being a witch.

The man and a woman were arrested in Worcester in the Western Cape on Tuesday.

Spokesperson Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana says this brings the total of suspects arrested to eight.

The 83-year-old woman was brutally murdered at her home in Majuba Village near Sterkspruit on the 15th of March.

Five suspects were arrested in various parts of the Eastern Cape while one was nabbed in Mpumalanga.

The two arrested in Worcester will make their first appearance in the Sterkspruit Regional Court on Thursday whilst five other suspects will formally apply for bail.

The suspects are all charged with murder, attempted murder, arson and assault.
