Eastern Cape police have arrested seven suspects for possession of abalone and drugs near Jeffreys Bay.
Spokesperson Captain Marius McCarthy says the arrests were made during a highly successful, integrated, intelligence-driven operation conducted by, among others, Jeffreys Bay SAPS, the Stock Theft Unit, the Humansdorp K9 Unit, the Makhanda Crime Intelligence Unit, and Kouga Municipality law enforcement on Wednesday.
He says police confiscated abalone, drugs, diving equipment, and a Mercedes-Benz motor vehicle.
The combined value of the confiscated goods is estimated to be around R300,000.
McCarthy says the suspects, aged between 23 and 45, will appear in the Humansdorp Magistrate's Court once charged.
