The Gqeberha businessman accused of killing 36-year-old Bay mother Vanessa van Rensburg on Easter Sunday, faces more charges.
Algoa Plastics co-owner Rob Evans, 58, now faces additional charges of attempted murder for an incident that allegedly took place in February this year, where the state alleges that he struck van Rensburg with a blunt force.
The kidnapping charge relates to an incident on 9 May 2024, where Evans allegedly locked van Rensburg in his vehicle.
He also faces a charge of defeating or obstructing the course of justice.
Evans was arrested at his business in Newton Park last week.
This is after Vanessa’s lifeless body was discovered in Evans’ holiday home in Oyster Bay.
After a brief appearance on Friday, the matter was transferred to the Humansdorp Regional Court for the same day for his formal bail application.
