Police patrol dog, Adze tracks suspect hiding in bushes

A seven-year-old Belgian Shepherd police patrol dog, Adze, demonstrated his diligence this past weekend after tracking down one of three suspects hiding in the bushes, following a robbery of a spaza shop in Kenton-on-Sea.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli says all three suspects appeared in the Alexandria Magistrates' court on Tuesday, facing charges of attempted murder and business robbery.

Alizwa Tsitsi, 19, Anele Tshukulana, 25 and Thamsanqa David, 33, are expected back in court on Wednesday to apply for bail/

Warrant Officer Nkohli says it is alleged that the men stormed into the spaza shop on Sunday morning, where they shot and wounded the owner, before stealing cash and other items.

He says that at the scene,  Adze wasted no time and located and followed the scent trail of the suspect.

Upon his arrest, a backpack with cigarettes and a speed point machine was confiscated.

According to Nkohli, the first two suspects were arrested by security personnel.

He did, however, state that no firearm was found. K9 dogs will continue searching the bushes to find the weapon.
