Parts of EC receive welcome rain

The SA Weather Service in Port Elizabeth said on Saturday that some welcome rain fell over parts of the Eastern Cape overnight.

Spokesperson, Garth Sampson said Port Elizabeth and East London only received 2 mm, but parts of Nelson Mandela Bay's catchment area fared a bit better.

He said Patensie received 25 mm, but Kareedouw and Joubertina only had 6 mm and 2 mm respectively.

Port Alfred recorded 6 mm, Makhanda 16.4 mm, Cradock 21 mm and George 33 mm.

Sampson said drought-stricken Graaff-Reinet received 7 mm.

He said the forecast for the rest of the weekend was for on and off showers, with better chances along the Garden Route, west of Plettenberg Bay.
