Controversial Nigerian pastor, Timothy Omotoso was arrested early on Saturday in East London on charges related to the Immigration Act.
National police commissioner, General Fannie Masemola says members of the Department of Home Affairs' Immigration Inspectorate and the South African Police Service arrested Omotoso at around 5 am, following a church service.
He says he will be facing charges related to the violation of the Immigration Act and will appear in court on Monday.
Omotoso's arrest comes several weeks after he and two co-accused were acquitted of over 30 charges that included rape, and human trafficking in a trial lasting nearly eight years.
The Department of Home Affairs is expected to issue a statement on Saturday.
