A 40-year-old farmworker from Kareedouw who raped and impregnated his daughter was sentenced to 24 years in prison in the Gqeberha High Court on Tuesday.
The man, who entered into a plea agreement with the state, raped his 12-year-old daughter in October 2019.
According to court documents, he was arrested after the child's pregnancy was confirmed in February of the following year.
The accused' daughter gave birth to a child.
DNA tests later confirmed that he was the father.
The man, who cannot be named, had a previous conviction for culpable homicide and the possession of dagga.
