Gqeberha police have confirmed that a 44-year-old male shop owner was kidnapped on Friday morning, allegedly by a group of about five men.
Spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge said the incident occurred around 10 a.m. when the shop owner stopped in front of his business on Darling Street in North End, driving his white BMW.
Captain Beetge said it was then that a blue VW Polo arrived and stopped behind the man’s car.
“He was taken out of his vehicle by force and taken into the Polo," Captain Beetge said. "Both vehicles, with one of the suspects driving the man’s BMW, then left the scene.
“A kidnapping case was opened and is being investigated by SAPS Mount Road.”
