Fort Hare student abandons bid for bail in connection with girlfriend's murder


The 22-year-old University of Fort Hare nursing student arrested for the murder of his girlfriend appeared briefly in the Mdantsane Magistrates Court on Thursday where he abandoned his bid for bail.

Anele Tsewu was arrested on Tuesday after the body of his girlfriend was found at his home.

The 20-year-old victim, Mbasa Hlalukana was a student at Unisa.

Her body was found in Tsewu's house in Unit 8, Mdantsane.

Several of Hlalukana's friends gathered outside the court on Thursday to demand justice.

The matter was postponed to the 25th of March.
