Garden Route police have launched a manhunt for a suspect involved in a house robbery and the alleged rape of a 78-year-old woman.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies says the incident happened around 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the victim’s house in Plettenberg Bay.
He says a preliminary investigation suggests that the suspect gained entry from the back of the victim’s home.
He then forced her into a room where he assaulted and raped her.
Spies say the man took jewellery and a cell phone before he fled the scene on foot.
Anyone with information can contact Sergeant Leslin Moos at the Plettenberg Bay police station.
