Collegiate Girls High in Gqeberha is mourning the death of a Grade 12 learner who was brutally murdered alongside her mother last week.

Grade 12 learner Hailie-Jade Coboza, 19 and her 40-year-old mother Lusanda were gunned down in their home in Sakhasonke Village, Walmer Location, on Thursday last week.

Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the victims both sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

She says information gathered at the scene led SAPS to public hospitals within the Metro, and upon their arrival at Dora Nginza, they found an alleged suspect with injuries to his leg.

Janse van Rensburg says he was traced back to the murder scene and subsequently arrested.

She says as the investigation unfolded, another three suspects were arrested at a residence in Greenshields Park where a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun and a box with 9mm ammunition were confiscated.

The motive for the murder is still under investigation.

Police are investigating a case of conspiracy to commit murder, murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition

The suspects aged between 28 and 46 will appear in court on Monday.

Meanwhile, the principal of Collegiate Louise Erasmus said councillors and staff will be on standby to offer psycho-social support to learners who feel overwhelmed.
