#playourmusicwoolies is going viral

The #playourmusicwoolies movement has gained momentum as SA artists unite to challenge the leading retailer’s alleged decision to strike SA music from its playlists.

Musicians from across South Africa are asking via social media for Woolworths to do the right thing after hearing that they have decided to only play royalty-free music in their stores. As pointed out by many in their twitter feeds, this will have a financial impact on SA recording artists.

The South African Music Performance Rights Association (SAMPRA) has also joined the movement, asking that all SA artists make their voices heard.

Woolworths has as yet not responded to the allegations.
