The South African Police Service is calling on Khosi Thomson, a female foreign national, to refrain from impersonating members of the South African Police Service.
Khosi Thomson has several pictures of herself on Facebook in various clothing that appears to be police uniforms.
Spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed that the clothing in the pictures is not SAPS-issued uniforms.
She said the woman, who claims to be attached to the Johannesburg Central Police station, is, in fact, a foreign national.
Brigadier Mathe said the SAPS social media team warned Thomson, after which she locked her profile.
She says a search for Thompson is underway, and she reminds the public that it is illegal to represent yourself as an SAPS official falsely or to use an SAPS uniform, badge, or decoration without authorisation.
If found guilty, Thompson could face a fine or time in prison.
