A 12-year-old boy facing a charge of culpable homicide appeared in the Brakpan Magistrates Court on Monday in the presence of his guardian.
Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Lumka Mahanjana, says it is alleged that the minor took his parents' car on Saturday afternoon when he drove over a 14-year-old boy before crashing into a wall.
She says the teenager sustained injuries and was declared dead on the scene.
The minor was taken to the local charge office the following day and released into his parents' care.
The matter was postponed to the 28th of August 2025 to determine his criminal capacity.
