2020 Two Oceans Marathon cancelled due to COVID-19

This year's Two Oceans Marathon in Cape Town has been cancelled because of the novel coronavirus.

The organisers announced on Sunday that following an emergency meeting of board members on Saturday, it was unanimously decided that all marathon events scheduled for April 8 – 11, 2020 would be cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the global spread of the coronavirus.

Race director, Debra Barnes said that the health and safety of the competitors, staff, sponsors, and the global community were paramount and an event of this scale posed far too great a risk to continue.

She said further information would be made available in due course and organisers would be in direct communication with the runners who had entered the 2020 event.
