Route Maps & Road Closure

There will only be road closures in Gqeberha.
East London and George will not experience any road closures during the Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer presented by ISUZU Motors South Africa


Event Route Road Closure - Gqeberha

  1. Traffic vehicle and officer at the entrance to Hobie Beach’s Boardwalk Complex, opposite Caltex entrance – allow vehicles to park to support restaurants, but when full will be returned to La Roche Drive direction.
  2. Marshals at parking area to liaise with traffic and marshals at fenced and coned area where walkers turn to walk up Marine Drive towards Pollock Beach.
  3. Coned lane from 2nd Ave towards Caltex to allow these residents to exit.
  4. Traffic vehicle and officer at the intersection of Brighton Drive and 2nd Ave to direct vehicles back up 2nd Ave or along Brighton Drive.
  5. 8th Avenue to be completely closed.
  6. Parking of walker vehicles to be allowed on the grass area in front of Summerstrand Village and the field to the right of this grass area.
  7. Traffic vehicle and officer on 9th Avenue, and Coned lane from Retief Plein to 9th Ave, to allow residents to exit; Managed Crossing from SummerSeas Complex to 9th Ave to allow residents to exit.
  8. Traffic vehicle and officer at Admiralty way to direct Willows traffic up Admiralty and Admiralty towards Willows, supported by marshals.
  9. 50 marshals on route.
  10. Traffic onsite at 06.30 to close roads from Hobie Beach with fencing – full road closure from 07.00 latest, as the walk starts at 08.00.
  11. Rolling opening from both Hobie Beach and Admiralty as the last walker passes, to squeeze opening of roads back to centre/Pollock Beach at the earliest with fencing dropped ahead of traffic opening.
