The workers connecting our frontline presenters to you, our listener

This week we honour our workers at Algoa FM – the people behind the scenes who keep you tuned in to the Eastern Cape and Garden Route’s favourite radio station.

Our listeners will know the personalities and voices of the presenters – and may even have had the chance to meet them in person.

But – and they will be the first to admit it – our presenters wouldn’t be able to entertain and inform you on air if it weren’t for specialist teams of people who provide them with support.

Our on-air presenters form part of the programming team, which is responsible for the music and the different shows that are broadcast.

What you hear is inspired by you, the listener, through ongoing research and among other, analysis of the comments received through social media.

Presenters are guided to craft the content of their shows, which are a mix of music, interviews, interaction with our listeners, and fun banter.

Listeners also tune in for news, sports, traffic updates and weather reports, brought to you by the news team.

Algoa FM News prepares and presents information our listeners can trust about the latest local, regional, national, and international developments.

Our news team is guided by the maxim of “rather being right than first.” Our mantra is to report the facts, do so fairly, accurately and within context.

Making sure that listeners receive a clear signal when listening is the technical team, which includes our IT boffins and outside broadcast engineers.

They also ensure that the equipment is well maintained and kept up to date.

Many of the advertisements you hear will have been recorded in the Algoa FM studios by our production team.

They are also responsible for the audio and video content available on all of Algoa FM’s online and social media platforms.

Crafting Algoa FM’s online presence is our graphic design and digital team, who are responsible for creating and curating content on Algoa FM’s social media and web platforms.

Moving outside the building, marketing are the workers which ensure that Algoa FM is also “on the ground.”

This creative, dynamic, and innovative team is responsible for the conceptualisation and seamless execution of events, ranging from a Hitmobile at a client’s business, to the annual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer – the biggest mass participation charity event in the Eastern Cape and Garden Route.

On the business side of the station are the sales, finance, and human resources workers, without whom the station would not be able to entertain and inform you, our listener.

Algoa FM’s highly experienced sales team is in the business of effective communication.

They work closely with brands and business owners to craft marketing and sales solutions that work for both the client and their customers.

Our sales team knows just how to leverage the integrated power of radio, digital, and on-the-ground activations.

As any business owner will tell you, there is nothing more important than cash flow – having money in the bank. To this end, our finance team plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of Algoa FM. They are responsible for billing, budgeting, payroll, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting to management, the executive team, the Board, and the holding company, African Media Entertainment Limited.

The finance team is also responsible for scheduling all of the advertising you hear and managing the traffic of all advertorial content to comply with Algoa FM’s broadcast licence conditions.

This diverse group of workers with their varied and complimentary skills is managed with the support of the Human Resources team.

HR is deeply involved in fostering a positive workplace culture, promoting employee well-being, and facilitating professional growth opportunities.

Their responsibilities include but aren’t limited to recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development initiatives, as well as benefit administration.

As you can see, no worker at Algoa FM is an island – we depend on each other to ensure that we live up to our motto that “fun is a serious business” by ensuring that listeners and advertisers remain engaged and delighted by Algoa FM.
