Five members of the same family have been arrested in Port Elizabeth on drug dealing charges.

Eastern Cape police said they raided a house in Humewood on Thursday night where they found 16 bags containing more than 13 000 Mandrax tablets and more than R100 000 in cash.

Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Thembinkosi Kinana, said the raid followed a tip-off.

"It is alleged that the drugs arrived from Khayalitsha in Cape Town on Thursday morning," he said

Kinana said the father, mother and three children, aged between 20 and 58, were detained on a charge of dealing in drugs.

They will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates' court on Monday.
