A Port Elizabeth man who was in the wrong place at the wrong time has become the latest victim of rampant gang violence in the city's Northern Areas.
Police said that 58-year-old Ambrose Booi was hit by a stray bullet, one of several allegedly fired by two gang members at a house in Burke Street in Bloemendal.
Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, the incident happened at around 2 pm on Thursday afternoon.
She said a case of murder is being investigated by the Provincial Gang Investigation Unit.
Booi's murder comes a day after a 24-year-old man was killed in broad daylight in a shooting in Standford Road at Helenvale, while his 22-year-old friend was wounded in both legs.
On Tuesday night, 30-year-old Yannick Jacobs, was shot dead when she answered a knock at the door to her house in Steenbok Street in Gelvandale.
More than 80 people were killed in gang-related shootings since April.
