A Group of children aged between 8 and 10 years old was taken into custody by security guards at the Coega IDZ.

A spokesperson for the IDZ Dr Ayanda Vilakazi says the kids were roaming around on Neptune road with about 50 stray dogs.

He says the dogs are used for illegal hunting across provincial roads and have been a challenge for them in the past.

Vilakazi says the dogs were gathered together at their local offices before the SPCA came to take ownership of the animals.

The children have since been released in the care of their parents.

Algoa FM news made an inquiry after video footage was sent to the newsroom showing the dogs and children walking around in the IDZ
