Buffalo City will host the Standard Bank IRONMAN 70.3® on Sunday, 27 January 2019.
“The Standard Bank IRONMAN 70.3 South Africa started in 2008 and quickly caught the eye of many triathletes. It now boasts almost 3000 athletes who register for the event year on year,” according to a statement from IRONMAN South Africa.
“It is regarded as one of the toughest and oldest 70.3 events on the circuit.”
This year’s event was won by Matt Trautman and Jeanni Seymour, winning the men’s and women’s races respectively.
IRONMAN South Africa Managing Director, Keith Bower said: “to see how this race has grown and developed over the last 11 years has been phenomenal.”
“The quality of race experience, the challenge it offers and the unique atmosphere are just a few of the reasons this race has reached this level of popularity amongst athletes.”
“It is especially encouraging to see that our international numbers have increased by such a margin, bringing more visitors to the region and further demonstrating the growing international appeal of the event,” he said.
Entries for the event open on Friday, 18 May at 11 am.
