Firearms stolen during armed robbery on farm outside Makhanda

Police in the Makhanda Cluster are looking for five men who stole two firearms during an armed robbery on a farm in Salem outside town.

Spokesperson Captain Mali Govender says the suspects entered the farm just after 11 am where they tied up staff before stealing a rifle and pistol.

She says the men then fled in a Nissan LDV which was later recovered abandoned in Alexandria.

Govender says the men, who are all on foot, are still at large.

She says during the robbery they all wore dark clothing with one man wearing a dark brown cap.

Experts from SAPS are on the scene and currently patrolling the area.

Nobody was injured in the robbery.
