A 24-year-old man is due to appear in court in Mossel Bay on Thursday in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Michaela Booysen.
She was killed in the early hours of Sunday morning when she and her boyfriend were attacked by three suspects while on their way home. Her boyfriend escaped unharmed.
The assailants fled with Booysen's black Nike takkies.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, said three people were detained for questioning on Tuesday, but two were released due to a lack of evidence against them.
However, he said the 24-year-old remained in custody and will be charged with Booysen's murder.
The teenager was a learner at Hillcrest Secondary School, the same school where a learner was stabbed to death by three other learners on Monday.
