SAFTU’S General Secretary, Zwelinzima Vavi, joined Jeff last night to voice his feelings on the current political impasse we find ourselves in. Here is man who personally knew and once had respect for Jacob Zuma, but that was a long time ago. Vavi gives an up close and personal account of his dealings with the disgraced President of our country. Take a listen.
Vavi has argued that under Jacob Zuma's government "We are heading rapidly in the direction of a full-blown predator state in which a powerful corrupt and demagogic elite of political hyenas increasingly controls the state as a vehicle of accumulation” and warned of a possible Tunisa style revolution.
The South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) is a trade union federation in South Africa. It was founded in 2017 and is the second largest of the country’s main trade union federations, with 21 affiliated trade unions, altogether organising 700,000 workers.
