The late Chester Williams has been granted a full state funeral by Cyril Ramaphosa. This was announced by Patrica De Lille at the memorial service held for the bok legend on Wednesday at the University of the Western Cape.
49-year-old Williams passed away last Friday after suffering a heart attack at his Cape Town home.
De Lille‚ who took to the podium at the memorial, described Chester as being ‘like a son to her’. It was during her tribute that she passed along the message that the President had granted the former Bok star an official state funeral.
It will be held at Newlands this Saturday starting at noon, the family have said that all are welcome to attend.
