The JBay Animal Rescue Sanctuary consists group of ladies with a passion for protecting and helping those who don’t have their own voice. We serve our township through the animals by vaccinating them, sterilizing them, educating the community on animals and also providing food, blankets and kennels to those who can’t afford it. We have a weekly outreach which takes place on a Thursday at 2 pm at the soccer stadium car park and then at 3 pm, it moves up to ocean view. The outreach involves some general check-ups, dipping, deworming, minor wound treatment and on the first Thursday of every month, we do vaccinations.
JBay Animal Rescue Sanctuary has decided to start doing a monthly sterilization day where we sterilize animals in the township. Our aim for 2019 is to open a Community Animal Clinic from where we can work on a daily basis and help more animals.
Project 1: Renovating a building for our Community Animal Clinic. The municipality gave permission to lease a rundown building in Ocean View. This building is in dire need of renovating and we desperately need funds for this.
Project 2: Monthly Spay Day
We try to spay as many as 25 dogs every month. Currently, we use the community hall in Pelsrus, which we need to rent for the day. We also get a vet and vet's assistants to help with the procedures. They all need to be paid.
Project 3: Kennels
We provide kennels to the dogs who need them the most. These kennels are bought from Amazing Rubber Kennels in Port Elizabeth. We rely on donations to buy these kennels and are in dire need to get more.
