Big Walk FAQ's

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When did entries open?

Entries opened on Wednesday, 2 September at 08:00 for the 2020 Virtual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer.

Why a Virtual Big Walk?

As much as we love the camaraderie and fun of the annual mass participation walk along the Port Elizabeth beachfront, there is a risk (and mass events are still prohibited). Therefore, to keep participants and organisers safe, we have decided to allow people to walk safely from their homes – wherever they are in the world – to still support a great cause.

How does It work?

You walk at your own pace and route for five kilometres from any location you choose between 08:00  to 10:00 on Saturday, 31 October 2020.

Who is the 2020 Beneficiary?

The Igazi Foundation has been selected as the beneficiary for this year’s Virtual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer.

How far is the virtual walk?

It is a 5km walk or 7000 steps

Where can I do the virtual walk?

Walk wherever you are. You can walk in your neighbourhood or in safe, socially distanced space from 8am to 10am on Saturday, 31 October 2020. (Government lockdown regulations apply)

What time does the virtual walk start and end?

Walk in your neighbourhood from 08:00 to 10:00 on Saturday, 31 October 2020.

Cost and where to enter?

Entries cost R65 per person.

Please visit www.algoafm.co.za and enter on the Virtual Big Walk event page.

Can I enter at the Algoa FM Office?

Are there any T-shirts for sale?

Yes, we have a limited number of T-shirts for sale at R100 per T-shirt. You can also purchase extra items from our new merchandise range, here.

When will I receive my free T-shirt or additional merchandise purchased?

All deliveries will commence from the first week of October. This applies to all orders placed in September. Please allow five working days for delivery. Please ensure your delivery address is accurate.

When do online entries and merchandise orders close?

How can I pay for merchandise ordered online?

Both Credit and Debit Cards are excepted.

How much is the delivery / courier fee?

The delivery fee is R70.00 for packages with a weight up to 5kg.

How to maximise courier cost for individual entries?

You can save on courier fees by ordering together with friends, family, colleagues and neighbours – but only if all the names are all included in the same online entry. Please have all your names and orders for merchandise ready with you when you enter. Note that you cannot add to your entry or cart once your order and transaction has been complete – this will need to be a new order with a new delivery cost.

How much is the bulk courier fee?

The bulk delivery fee is R130 for packages with a weight of over 5kg and up to 20kg.

You can save on courier fees by ordering together with friends, family, colleagues and neighbours. Reminder that 30 or more people qualify as a bulk entry.
