When did entries open?

Entries opened on Tuesday, 24 August at 17:00 for the Virtual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer 2021.

Why a Virtual Big Walk?

As much as we love the camaraderie and fun of the annual mass participation walk along the Gqeberha beachfront, there is a risk of spreading Covid-19. Therefore, to keep participants and organisers safe, we invite people to walk safely from any 5km route of their choosing – anywhere in the world.

How does It work?

You walk at your own pace and route for five kilometres from any location you choose between 08:00 and 10:00 on Saturday, 30 October 2021.

Who is the 2021 Beneficiary?

The Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa (CHOC) has been selected as the beneficiary for this year’s Virtual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer.

How far is the virtual walk?

It is a 5km walk or 7 000 steps for the average adult.

Where can I do the virtual walk?

Walk wherever you are. You can walk in your neighbourhood or in safe, socially distanced space between 08.00 and 10.00 on Saturday, 30 October 2021. (Government lockdown regulations apply) 

What time does the virtual walk start and end?

Walk in your neighbourhood between 08:00 and 10:00 on Saturday, 30 October 2021.

Cost and where to enter?

Entries cost R65 per person.

Can I enter at the Algoa FM Office?

No, manual entries will not be facilitated. We’ve made it easy for you to enter remotely and safely.  Just visit the Algoa FM website and enter online.

How can I qualify for a free T-shirt?

Only the first 5000 entrants who have paid the R65 entry fee, will qualify for a free T-shirt. Should you support this event with the purchase of merchandise only, you will not qualify for a free T-shirt.

Entrants living in Gqeberha and Kariega areas have the option to use the new convenient self-collect service to collect their t-shirts and merchandise from the Williams Hunt Isuzu Dealer in Moffett Retail Park, off William Moffett Expressway in Gqeberha.

Alternatively, entrants can have their free T-shirts and merchandise safely delivered to their homes anywhere in South Africa via our courier service.

Will I receive a Race Number with my entry?

Yes, each entrant will receive a Race Number to pin on their T-shirt.

When will I receive my free T-shirt or additional merchandise purchased?

All courier deliveries will commence from Wednesday, 15 September. This applies to all orders placed during August and September. Please allow five working days for delivery. Please ensure your delivery address is accurate.

When do online entries and merchandise orders close?

At midnight on Friday, 29 October 2021. Please note that merchandise ordered after Monday, 25 October, might not be delivered before the event.

How can I pay for merchandise ordered online?

Both Credit and Debit Cards are excepted.

What additional merchandise items can be purchased online?

Visit the Algoa FM website to view our extended new Big Walk for Cancer Pink merchandise range to order for Big Walk Day. The new Pink Range includes a branded Cap, Multifunctional Headwear, Shaker bottle, Dog Water Bottle, Special Personalised Candles, Shopper Bag, Kiddie’s Blow Bubbles, Ear Phones, and Socks.

How much is the delivery / courier fee to a single address?

The delivery fee is R70.00 for packages with a weight of up to 5kg, delivered anywhere in South Africa.

How many entries qualify as a group entry? 

If you enter between 2 and 20 people together online you will only pay for one courier fee, R70, delivered to a single address anywhere in South Africa!

How to minimise courier cost for individual entries? 

Select the Group Entry option and you can enter a maximum of 20 people and only pay for one courier fee, R70, delivered to a single address anywhere in South Africa!

You can save on courier fees by ordering together with friends, family, colleagues, and neighbours – but only if all the names are included in the same online entry. Please have all your names and orders for merchandise ready with you when you enter. Note that you cannot add to your entry or cart once you have checked out – this will need to be a new order with a new delivery cost.

Who qualifies to use the Self-Collect Drive Through Service? 

All entrants living in Gqeberha and Kariega.

When does Self-Collect Drive Through Service open? 

The Self-Collect Drive Through Service will open from 15 September. Entrants who have selected the self-collect option, at no charge, will be notified via email, of their collection date and time.

Please note if you re-order on the Big Walk entry platform, either for entries, merchandise or donations, each time you check-in again you will receive a new Order Number. Please ensure you take all your Order Number Confirmations with you when you collect your parcels at the Williams Hunt Self-Collect Service Area

Remember that once you have selected the Delivery Option you must select the Williams Hunt Collection Service before you proceed to check-out.


How do I update my delivery selection from self-collect to courier service?

Should an entrant want to change from self-collect to courier service, they need to email this request to bigwalk@algoafm.co.za or whatsApp 082 903 8408. Our team will send them a coupon credit, the entrant will then re-enter online, selecting the courier option, using the coupon to credit money already paid, and settling the courier fee only.

How many entries qualify as a bulk entry?

If you enter over 21 people together online, you can enjoy our bulk courier fee of a flat rate of R140 for delivery anywhere in South Africa.

How much is the bulk courier fee?

The bulk delivery fee is a flat R140 for packages delivered anywhere in South Africa.

How to minimise courier cost for Bulk entries? 

Select the Bulk Entry option and enter over 21 people and pay a flat courier rate of R140 delivered to a single address anywhere in South Africa!

You can save on courier fees by ordering together with friends, family, colleagues and neighbours – but only if all the names are included in the same online entry. Please have all your names and orders for merchandise ready with you when you enter. Note that you cannot add to your entry or cart once you have checked out – this will need to be a new order with a new delivery cost. Bulk entries close at midnight on Monday, 18 October.

Who qualifies for the new Bulk Entry Free Delivery Service? 

Entrants living in Gqeberha and Kariega who enter more than 21 people will have their order delivered to their one selected address free of charge from 15 September.

Will the courier deliver to areas outside of South Africa?

Our courier service is only available within South Africa.

When do bulk online entries close?

Bulk entries close at midnight on Friday, 29 October 2021.

How will lucky draw prizes be drawn?

Lucky draw prizes will be drawn from the entrants’ virtual race numbers. Winners will be announced online and contacted telephonically to arrange prize collection.
