Are there T-shirt s available?

The T-shirts are sold out.

How can I get a T-shirt?

A Premium entry

The Premium package includes the following:

  • VIP Parking area (this is applicable to all areas).
  • Silver wrist tag to wear on Big Walk day for access to our exclusive front row Silver Circle.
  • Premium Walker Kit includes a Premium Grey Big Walk T-shirt, Cap, and Puma socks.
  • Entry into the Premium Puma Lucky Draw and the chance to win a R2000 prize voucher which includes a Puma Phase Backpack, Puma Running Cap and a Puma Transport Running Shoe plus two tickets to the VIP Hospitality (this is applicable to all areas).

Can I still purchase merchandise?

Yes, at our registration areas below.

  • Pollock Beach grass area, Gqeberha on Wednesday, 25 to Friday 27 October from 12.00 to 18.00
  • Old Selbournian Club, 27 New, Old Transkei Rd, Baysville, East London on Thursday, 26 and Friday, 27 October from 12.00 to 18.00
  • George Golf Club, 16 CJ Langenhoven Road, George Central, on Friday, 27 October from 12.00 to 18.00

Delivery via courier, when can I expect my parcel?

Your parcel will arrive before Saturday, 28 October, depending on when the order was made. Anything purchased after 25 October and couriered will only be couriered week commencing 30 October 2023. 

Availability of parking?

Yes, in all venues, be mindful of road closures, please click on the Road closure and Route map button.

Can someone else collect my parcel at registration? 

Yes, they will need to provide proof of your order number which is your reference and a letter of consent.

When did entries open?

Entries opened on Tuesday, 22 August at 17:00 for the Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer 2023.

Pick your Physical Start Point?

Entrants can select their closest start point from either Pollock Beach, Marine Drive, Summerstrand, Gqeberha; the Old Selbornian Club, 27 Pearce Street, Baysville, East London or the George Golf Club, 16 CJ Langenhoven Raod, George Central.

What time does the Physical Big Walk start?

All three Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer Events in Gqeberha, East London and George start at 08.00 on Saturday, 28 October 2023.

Is there a fee for children?
There is no entry fee for a child under the age of 5 years. Please note, no free T-shirt will therefore be allocated as this is not a paid entry. We do not have t-shirts in kids’ sizes but you are invited to purchase merchandise from our extended pink range so that the whole family wears their support!

Entrants under the age of 10 years must be accompanied by an adult and in doing so, the supervising adult/s take full responsibility for these entrants for the entire duration of the event.

How far is the Big Walk for Cancer?

Entrants will enjoy the comradery of the mass start and walk together, celebrating every step, for 5km.

Who is the 2023 Beneficiary?

Two beneficiaries, Reach for a Dream and Wings and Wishes have been selected as the beneficiaries for this year’s Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer.

Why a Virtual Big Walk too?

It’s your choice – if you live outside the Eastern Cape or you would rather walk your own route, in your own location anywhere in the world, and your preferred distance, it’s all up to you!

How does It work?

You walk at your own pace and route for five kilometres from any location you choose between 08:00 and 10:00 on Saturday, 28 October 2023.

Will virtual entrants receive a race number?

Yes, virtual entrants will receive a link on their confirmation email to download their own race number.

Cost and where to enter virtual and physical events?

Entries cost R70 per person.

Please visit www.algoafm.co.za and enter on the Algoa FM Big Walk event page.

Both Credit, Debit Cards and EFT payments are accepted.

Please be aware that if you choose to make payment via a bank deposit, a deposit fee of R2.50 for every R100 will be applied in addition to your entry payment. We strongly advise using other payment methods available such as Payfast or EFT to avoid these additional costs. Please ensure you use your order number as a reference when making payment.

The EFT payment method will be auto cancelled If no payment is received after 36 hours from entry; and you would need to re-enter.

Can I enter at the Algoa FM Office?

No, manual entries will not be facilitated. We’ve made it easy for you to enter remotely and safely.  Just visit the Algoa FM website and enter online.

How can I qualify for a free T-shirt?

The Free iconic T-shirt is sold out.

Only the first 8000 entrants who have paid the R70 entry fee, will qualify for a free T-shirt. Should you support this event with the purchase of merchandise only, you will not qualify for a free T-shirt. Entrants cannot be guaranteed that they will receive their desired T-shirt size. Please note EFT payments not received within 36 hours from entry will be autocancelled including free t-shirt and any merchandise, and you would need to re-enter.

Is there a Courier Service?

Entrants can choose to have their free T-shirts and merchandise safely delivered to their homes anywhere in South Africa via our courier service, The Courier Guy for R100.

When will courier Service start?

All courier deliveries will commence from Friday, 6 October. This applies to all orders placed during August and September. Please allow five working days for delivery. Please ensure your delivery address is accurate.

Will I receive a Race Number with my entry?

Yes, each entrant will receive a Race Number to pin on their T-shirt. All entrants must wear their race number on their chests for the duration of the event.

When will I receive my free T-shirt or additional merchandise purchased?

All entrants must register to receive their race number before race day. Late entries, Race Pack, Merchandise collection and sales will take place at Registration from three start points in Gqeberha, East London and George. Entrants must present the order number which was emailed to them to collect their free T-shirt, race number and merchandise ordered.

Registration will take place at:

  1. Pollock Beach grass area, Gqeberha on Wednesday, 25 to Friday 27 October from 12.00 to 18.00

When will late entries receive their race numbers?

Late entries will receive their race number at Registration prior to race day.

How do I upsize my entry to a Premium Charity Entry?

Simply select this option online, select your T-shirt size, and pay your Premium Charity entry fee, R350. Your Premium Entry Reward Package includes a cap, Exclusive Premium T-shirt, Puma socks, entry into the Premium Puma Lucky Draw, as well as a few service perks, access to the Premium Speed Queue at Registration, Premium VIP Parking, and access to Premium Silver start area at the front of the Big Walk as a special thank you for your generous support of the Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer.

When do online entries and merchandise orders close?

At midnight on Friday, 20 October 2023. Please note that merchandise ordered after Monday, 23 October, can be collected at your registration point, but if courier service is used, it might not be delivered before the event.

Can I enter after online entries have closed?

Yes, Late entries, race number collection, merchandise collection and sales will be accepted at Registration from three start points in Gqeberha, East London and George:

Will late entries be accepted on race day, Saturday, 28 October?

No late entries or race number collection will be permitted on Saturday, 28 October 2023.

How can I pay for merchandise ordered online?

Both Credit, Debit Cards and EFT payments are accepted.

What additional merchandise items can be purchased online?

Visit the Algoa FM website to view our extended new Big Walk for Cancer Pink merchandise range to order for Big Walk Day. The Pink Range includes a branded Cap, T-shirt, Lycra Shorts, Shoelaces, Yo-Yo, Activity Bag, Shaker bottle, Dog Water Bottle, Phone Pull Topper, Sunglasses, Magnetic Cancer Ribbon Clip, Bubble Poncho, Kiddie’s Blow Bubbles, Ear Phones, 6-Can Cooler Bag and Socks.

How much is the delivery / courier fee to a single address?

The delivery fee is R100.00 for packages with a weight of up to 5kg, delivered anywhere in South Africa.

How many entries qualify as a group entry? 

If you enter between 2 and 20 people together online, simply select the Group entry option, you will collect your Group’s race packs from Registration at your start point. Please note your group entry will be packed as a single collection package and you will need to distribute to your group.

Does the admin person entering a group entry need to enter as an entrant?

Yes the admin person entering the group is also required to enter his or her personal information to receive a race number and free T-shirt.

How to minimise courier cost for individual entries? 

Select the Group Entry option and you can enter a maximum of 20 people and only pay for one courier fee, R100, delivered to a single address anywhere in South Africa!

You can save on courier fees by ordering together with friends, family, colleagues, and neighbours – but only if all the names are included in the same online entry. Please have all your names and orders for merchandise ready with you when you enter. Note that you cannot add to your entry or cart once you have checked out – this will need to be a new order with a new delivery cost.

How many entries qualify as a bulk entry?

Select the Bulk entry option, when entering 21 or more people. If you do not reside in Nelson Mandela Bay, you will collect your Bulk Entry packs from Registration at your start point. Please note your bulk entry will be packed as a single collection package and you will need to distribute to your bulk entrants.

How to minimise courier cost for Bulk entries? 

Select the Bulk Entry option and enter over 21 people and pay a flat courier rate of R195 delivered to a single address anywhere in South Africa!

You can save on courier fees by ordering together with friends, family, colleagues and neighbours – but only if all the names are included in the same online entry. Please have all your names and orders for merchandise ready with you when you enter. Note that you cannot add to your entry or cart once you have checked out – this will need to be a new order with a new delivery cost. Bulk entries close at midnight on Friday, 20 October.

Who qualifies for the Bulk Entry Free Delivery Service? 

Entrants living in Gqeberha and Kariega who enter more than 21 people will have their order delivered to their one selected address free of charge from 29 September.

Will the courier deliver to areas outside of South Africa?

Our courier service is only available within South Africa.

When do bulk online entries close?

Bulk entries close at midnight on Friday, 20 October 2023.

How will lucky draw prizes be drawn?

Lucky draw prizes will be drawn from the entrants’ race numbers. Winners will be announced online and contacted telephonically to arrange prize collection.
