Animal Anti-Cruelty League Port Elizabeth

“We speak for those who cannot speak for themselves”.

Our branch was started to assist and care for animals in need throughout Port Elizabeth, with our main area of focus being the Northern Areas.  We operate a clinic in Cleary Park, where our Vet consults and operates on a daily basis. We serve many indigent areas and our field staff collect and return sterilisation cases on a daily basis.  Injured and sick animals are also collected, where no transport is available.  Our work also includes our Inspectors dealing with cruelty cases, neglect, abuse and abandonment. These cases are processed through the courts.  Education is a vital part of our organisation's activities and we have a prolific outreach base, where we launch regular dipathons and spayathons in areas of need.  We also provide outreach to some of the rural areas that have no Veterinary care in place.  We have just returned from a mass spayathon in Alicedale. We also run a very successful second-hand shop in Walmer at the 9th Avenue Complex:  AACL Bargain Box Shop.

These are some of our current projects:

This Saturday spayathon at our Clinic: a joint venture with Save a Pet for the Mission Road animals.

Follow up in Alicedale Tuesday 18 February:  removal of stitches and follow up on cruelty cases

Outreach Dipathon to assist Colchester Animal Outreach:  dipping/deworming/treatments:  February

Pickfords Saturday Spayathon at our clinic:  Pickfords currently raising funds towards this.  End April

Westering High Ecos group:  Saturday spayathon at our Clinic. Ecos group currently raising funds towards this: End May

Pearson High AACL Youth League Saturday spayathon at our Clinic:  currently raising funds for this:  End June

Ongoing school education programmes with follow up dipathon at said schools and resultant sterilisation programmes
