Briony Sparg
About Briony Sparg
Briony Sparg “I have made some amazing friends, just from listeners calling in and getting to know them and connecting with them”, says the Sweetheart of Algoa FM.

Briony’s cheerful but sincere tone connects her to her listeners both on and off the air. She describes radio as being her lifelong dream and being called to be a presenter on Algoa FM as a dream come true. “Through radio, I have been able to use my position to bring joy to other people”.

Compassionate, motivated, friendly, and caring are among the few words to describe her, but her deeds speak a lot louder than mere words.

Briony provides the perfect Saturday soundtrack and commentary on what listeners are up to and what is happening on the sports fields across the country. Whether you are getting ready to hit the town later or a relaxed Saturday at home, Briony is the perfect companion. At the same time she entertains them with the SA Reflective Radio Chart on her Sunday show which counts down the 30 biggest songs currently charting on radio stations across the country.

Roald Dahl is known for being an accomplished children's author. He has written classics like James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, the BFG and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. While these may be light-hearted tales, Dahl's actual life was not so easy. He was born in 1916 and passed away in 1990. When Dahl's son was just four months old, he was hit by a taxi in New York City and suffered a serious brain injury. The boy developed secondary hydrocephalus an... read more

Now you can go beyond just licking your plate clean. A company in Taiwan literally makes plates, spoons, bowls, and chopsticks out of wheat- so you can EAT your utensils! They were inspired by trenchers; plates cut from stale loaves of bread to hold food , salt, and even candles during the Medieval times. The disposable dinnerware is made from hardtack, a biscuit dough made from flour, water, and salt that has been traditionally used as dry emergency rati... read more

In many fields of study, students are required to pass an intensive exam in order to join their specialized work force. For example, law students are required to pass the bar examination in order to legally practice their craft. Few would think of taxi drivers having similar standards to meet. But, in London, they very much do. In order to run a black cab in London, potential drivers must pass an exam known as The Knowledge. Similar to a Drivers Test, the exam i... read more
